4/20 Update: In an effort not to spam my friends LiveJournals, I decided to do my next journal posting as a comment reply to this one. It’s related to SN6 and SN7, as well as having my thoughts on how SN is being written and what I might do when it’s done. Worth a read.
Okay… I closed off SN6 not at a point I was planning to close it off. I HAD a good bookend scene that worked with the first one… but likely that will be used to close SN7.
Why? Pacing. In SN6 we get major new developments, lots of action, lots of scenes. It weighs in at 73k, on part with episodes 2 and 4. It’s self contained… one night and the start of the aftermath. But if I threw in the REST, the other major new developments and such, we’d get 150k+ and it would make the prior feel rushed and ruin the impact.
I am completely and totally writing by the seat of my pants now. I have some key bits to hit, but how I hit them and when I’m making up as I go along. To tell the truth, that’s making the ride a bit scary. I don’t want to mess up and write myself into a corner. But I don’t want to plan everything out step by step and write myself into a corner that way like I did on Starboard. So please excuse the experimental nature, folks. Post any comments.
