Alright, so we’ve had this problem with an e-mail comments form on the web. Seems the web only produces blank responses, which makes no sense at all since the e-mailing code on the server backend has been re-used in various other projects and works just fine. So, we assume everything is A-OK and it’s just some idiot pushing ‘submit’ without filling anything in.
Two months later we’re STILL having the same problem, but by now the source code for the server backend program is MIA. After a scavenger hunt to try and find it, we rig it to send to a test address, ship a few out, get blanks.
That ranks up there at least in the top ten of boneheadedly stupid, simple mistakes you can make as a programmer.
I’m up for my annual review tomorrow. Pray. @_@
