…no broadband. None. De nada. We’re moving in late October and the house we’re going to has no cable modem, no DSL, and we won’t know until after we’ve been there for a week if we’ll EVER get DSL. And given how new the neighborhood is, odds are the answer is ‘no’.
I’m beginning to regret getting that year long subscription to IGN Insider. I won’t be able to download 10 meg movies on a whim, can’t napster with wild abandon, can’t l33ch pr0n… the horror… the horror.
Thankfully I’m not a game junkie so I won’t be missing my Quake 3 ping, and most of the stuff I do online is either web page reading, mail grabbing, IRCing or MUing, which can be low bandwidth activities. But I’ll likely have to go back to turning image loading off by default so I don’t sit there three minutes waiting for amazon.com to load. Argh.
In other news…
I’m tempted to do some DDR remix songs anyway, copyright issues or no. Not one, but TWO DDR songs use royalty-free vocal samples off my loop libraries — brilliant 2 u and put your faith in me. We’re not even talking a lot of tweaking here, you just play File 1, then File 2, then File 3… how can you copyright what they blatantly laid out in progression on the disc? The MELODY and the music, yes, but I can make my own music to go with those vocals.
Ultra is progressing. I did a bunch of scenes last night for the filler-episode and likely will do some more tonight. This won’t be too bad, since I have good writers helping me, it’s just kind of a pain.
I’ve been making a concentrated effort to relax more. Taking a nap or watching the Simpsons are common evening activities for me. Sometimes I’ll listen to tunes, or tinker in Acid, but never in a serious way. If I can keep this up I can be very productive in my unproductive recreational time periods.
Which is good, since my recreational time will be moving at 56k for a long, long time. *sniff* And don’t whine about how you’ve been on 56k forever; going broadband and then having to drop back to that is much worse. It’s like losing your heroin supply.
