From WWF.com: “After much deliberation and discussions with local officials in Houston, we have decided that the show should go on. We do this to support the call by President Bush and other political leaders to get Americans back to their everyday routines after this barbaric act of terrorism, and for many Americans, WWF SmackDown! on Thursday night is part of their regular routine,” said Linda McMahon, CEO of WWFE. “This week’s WWF SmackDown! will depart from our traditional format, and will be a special tribute to the spirit of the American people and our democracy, both of which have shone brightly during this terrible tragedy.”
She’s right. With this announcement, I felt that maybe, just maybe, my life could get back on track. It’ll never be exactly the same, but I’ve so desperately wanted to get back into my groove that I felt any more of this seperation from the core events of my daily life would drive me nuts. (see previous posting.) This news has given me the will to finish up my Ultra episode tonight… it’s now posted. I wanted to do this. To show that I wouldn’t be completely lost anymore in this and unsure of how to feel. I want to reclaim my life and I’m going to. This isn’t denial; this is the purest form of acceptance. It’ll still take some time but it makes me feel very good to know that we’re going to do what we do best and not give in.
Update: Some negative sentiment is coming out about the WWF going ahead so soon when Baseball is waiting until the weekend. I’m a bit worried that as usual, the media will do a smear on ’em just to be smearing them. Way I see it, if you need more time to grieve and don’t want an entertainment spectacle, just don’t watch. But some of us NEED this. I need this. Sorry.
