New apartment. Settled in. All the electronics are in place; computer with modem connection to dataline, PocketPC in the cradle, speakers in place. Television wired to the cable box, the VCR and the PS2 — now with S-Video for a sharp and stable image. Sweet wraparound sofa with chaise lounge that my friends approve of highly, now with grey slipcovers and throwpillows. A nice niche I can lie down in to see the TV clearly. Glass rolling coffee table with cubbyholes that I insisted we get, since it looked awesome and had storage space.
Alarm clock and my cheap but cherished lamp by the bedside. Fridge stocked with soda, snacks on a rack nearby. Bathroom pretty much ready, although without the indoor/outdoor carpeting I prefer so I don’t slip on the tile. No big deal. Buzzer/intercom to my left, and we even got a strobe light doorbell in case my headphones are on — not that I need to use them much since even at a nicely loud volume, they can’t hear my hardass gang bangin’ ghetto rap upstairs.
A few things are missing, like my display cases for my anime dolls/figures, and the foosball table. My kitchenette isn’t ready yet, either. But these are minor things.
My place. All mine.
Okay, not that bad, but it IS a return to that creepy feeling I get when my folks drop me off sundays at college, and I’m by my lonesome in the dorm room with free time on my hands and little chance of human contact. Bizarro. I gotta get used to that again, although frankly I’ll still see them every day — and likely about as much as I did at the old house, living upstairs. It’s just… strange, having a one-continuously-huge sized room the size of the house all to myself.
Well, Monday I start the new daily routine (meet the new routine, same as the old routine… but not really). A little getting used to all over again and I can settle in. Maybe do some writing, since the privacy IS handy for that. Assuming I can tear myself away from SD:JBI. Meep.
Here we go…
