All this week I was busybusy at Learning Tree. It’s funny, something usually goes horribly wrong every time I’m there; flamewars on the board, Ultra gets skipped, something that I could take care of if I wasn’t forced to work with one of those hideously inaccessable internet kiosks at the Tree…
But this week, nah, nothing went wrong. (Okay, Fury got the flu, but Ultra’s not SKIPPED and frankly I think people can cope with delays, what with this being the last season.)
And just today, I got to drive in the shadow of our creator! Yep, I was heading down Rockville Pike when I pulled up behind a giant 18 wheel semi labelled “GOD”. Of course, it was just ‘Garunteed Overnight Delivery!’ but I chose to see it as a good sign.
I’m going to *gasp* attempt to work on Unreal Estate a little tonight. I actually have the intro for chapter 2 done, but it’s not all that and a bag of chips (just Mallory waking up and brushing his teeth, basically) and not worth posting by itself. I’m not sure how long this chapter will be, but I have the basic plot ready to go, and even have the plot for Chapter 3 percolating in mind. Should have more romancey stuff as we start to get Meiko warmed up to Mallory.
I’ve also been reading the Harry Potter books. They’re clearly for kids; the descriptions and narration are very simplified, and a lot of time gets skimmed over (weeks can pass before anything noteworthy enough to devote a page to happens). Still, they’ve got a GREAT job building the ‘world’ of the wizards and muggles and such… I’m actually taking notes for ideas of how to approach the ‘world’ of Unreal Estate. It’s good stuff, yo. I’m on book three now… I etexted them all, unfortunately, so I’ll probably buy volume four instead. Shame, it’s really convenient to read them on my PocketPC between class exercises instead of lugging around a six pound paperback book.
Update: I just ordered all ten DVD volumes of Gundam Wing plus the movie. I am certifiably insane. But I am certifiably insane with good uncut DVD collector’s edition anime.
Update #2: Well, that’s better. I’ve now done one of my famous Excessively Detailed Outlines for episode 2 of UE; right down to a bunch of dialogue exchanges and Mallory’s letter home written out. First two scenes need some fleshing out, but this should be easier to write now. I’ll start soon, don’t worry. Like the last five times I’ve said this, we’re back on track.
