I forgot to mention it, but my parents are Outta Town. They decided to up and zip off to Florida from Fri-Weds to see the sights and ride the rides and such. A good idea; I don’t wanna sound morbid, but Dad’s been rediscovering how important it is to enjoy time with your loved ones ever since his heart condition was detected. This Florida trip comes on the heels of discovering it’s worse than he thought. (Although they’re on track towards an implanted defribulator which should take care of things; I’m not worried.)
So what did I do this weekend, while the folks were away? Well… not much, really. Hung around in my pajamas. Installed Kazaa Lite, a spyware free version of Kazaa, and started sifting for pr0n. Finding none of interest I decided to start sifting for Invader Zim and Adult Swim cartoons.
The MAME box has a 40 gig hard drive. With every MAME game I can imagine under the hood and Dance Dance Revolution installed and even the Dragon’s Lair / Space Ace video files I plan to add… I’ll still have 35 gigs free. So, I’ve started moving huge DivX videos over there, to turn my arcade cabinet into a wai video server as well. Now if only I could automatically launch an AVI file fullscreen from the command prompt… but Windows Media Player is a flakey little bitch of a program. Grr.
Installed Tony Hawk 3 for PC on my computer. It’s given me a newfound appreciation for the Playstation 2; when I turn the graphic detail up to PS2 levels and high res, it brings my GeForce 3 card to its knees. But if you knock it down a little, the game becomes… merely unplayable due to keyboards sucking badly for Tony Hawk. I tried it on the MAME box but the GeForce 2 MX in that machine said “HAHAHAHAHA… no” and chugged at 10 fps. I’ll have to drive down to the mall soon and get a gamepad… I already have TH3 for PS2, but I can change musical selections and skins and deck graphics and things for the PC, which makes it the Superior Choice. Woohah.
Finally, last night I got hit upside the head with exhaustion right when I had finally settled in to RP a bit, so I took a powder on the couch and watched some Adult Swim on Cartoon Network before going to bed.
Not a whole lot of productive activity there. I did that song I mentioned the other day, a vs b, but that’s it. Hrmm. I guess that’s okay… I needed a low key weekend of very little goin’ on after the last few weeks of intense work/fun/madness. And the song was good. But I would’ve liked to work a LITTLE more productive fun in there too. Something feels amiss. Missing.
Maybe I’m just feeling kinda distant from my friends online. I’m only RPing with one person lately, using my time for other things, so the best contact I have with people is ICQ — which is not the best form of contact around, frankly. Considering that Yes, there is great physical distance involved, anything that adds more VIRTUAL distance is a problem. I dunno. Maybe I’ll expound upon this more later. That’s enough rambling for now.
