Well, other than a run of boffo RP, I am completely and utterly blown. Burned out. Wasted. Tired. I wanted to stay up to 2am so I could do a 10 hour sleep to noon and then hit Josh’s movie party… but I gotta crash now.
I wonder if I should feel blarghy over not really getting anything done. Tinkered with a song, ditched it. Stared at webpages that never updated. Watched a few music videos. Pondered writing… but just didn’t have it in me. Too slow witted and thick. I was so apathetic I didn’t even feel like playing some MAMEage. How out of it do you have to be to not feel like a round of Frogger, anyway?
Given I’ve been working on all cylinders for the last 4.5 days, I guess it’s to be expected. The tank is out of gas. Fair warning, likely no UE progress until Tuesday; tomorrow it’s movies at Josh’s, then a PPV, then WWE Raw. And hopefully some rest between those things.
UE08 is going to be a little taxing. Why? I don’t have a plot for it. Not a bit. I know it’ll involve Kisei’s past and her revenge, but I haven’t decided why she’s getting revenge or who on or even some details on who she’s taking it for. Expect this one to take awhile in the preproduction phase while I nail that down; UE07 suffered a bit from lack of planning and ended up with a handful of logic holes as a result. (Which I’ve patched quite well, actually, making for a strong story in the end… but it’s still something to try to avoid next time.)
And while I’m here, lemme bring up something someone else brought up in their journal about UE. Nothing nasty, just an interesting point of view on UE’s tone which I feel like chattering about.
The comment was this: There are times in UE when it looks like it’s about to steer in a hentai direction, but then piffles out / dodges the issue. Theory extrapolated: I’m intentionally ducking it when I really want to address it.
…well, no, not really. UE is exactly as hentai as I want it to be: never more than a good Leisure Suit Larry romp. That’s not an issue of watering down, it’s more what’s appropriate to the characters. Lorelei doesn’t really talk about her outside-the-House flings, even if it’s pretty clear she’s using men like so much Kleenex and then disposing of them appropriately. Mallory COULD get into all sorts of Keitaro-esque accidental peeping tom hijinks, but consider for a moment Meiko, who is very much NOT like Naru. She’s not violent, not slapsticky, and the one time he DID peep in the onsen… she just got mad and walked away. Which gives her a little more depth than your basic ‘Punt to the moon, Akane style’ reaction. So basically, UE has the tone I want it to have, it’s not a matter of really wanting to be hentai but chickening out.
Although I will note that I do chicken out when I ponder really doing a genuine, honest to goodness lemon; AMH being the example, since it was originally going to be hardcore stupidly fun ecchi nonsense and ended up being a pretty naughty but otherwise PG-13 comedy tale. Frankly… that’s for the best. You don’t wanna see me when the kid gloves come off. I prefer my adult material to be pretty intensely and unpleasantly psychological, likely depicting highly unhealthy mindsets and horrifying emotional trauma. Sailor Nothing was iceberg, see also: “tip of” on that angle.
…now, where was I? Oh yes. Sleep. Liiina… z.z
