Last night was pretty refreshing for all involved. Like many recent WWE TV thingies, we managed to have everybody here… used to be it’d only be Andrew, or only be Josh, but this time it was Andrew, Josh, Jenny, AND Orlando. Given recent social climes which I am not at liberty to discuss, this was a pleasant surprise, and a pleasant evening was had by all. Which is good, because Smackdown itself was pretty frickin’ mediocre — you need friends around you to really enjoy a show that flat.
Speaking of WWE… ladies and gentlemen, your Tough Enough 2 champions, Jackie and Linda. …wtf? Two guys and two girls are up for the prize and they gave it to the two girls, leaving the guys in the cold? I don’t object to this in a chauvanistic way — just a realistic one. This is the WWE, folks. Men are far more useful to them. They haven’t done ANYTHING with Nidia, the women’s champ from last year’s Tough Enough, what makes them think they’ll do anything with Jackie and Linda? And Kenny and Jake, the guys, were no slouches in the ring. Jake had an incredibly marketable look and decent skill, and was practically a shoe-in. So, unless they have some sneaky plans (like quietly giving all four of them contracts and making this part of a storyline) I just don’t understand this… but hey, ‘logic’ and ‘WWE’ don’t go together half the time, so whatever.
Saturday it’s movie day, and the movie parties lately have been tres k3wl. Looking forward to that one. I should check with Josh to see if he needs me to bring my Harry Potter DVD, now that I think about it.
Work, on the other hand, blows goats. It’s either dead boring, completely annoying, vague and ominous, or all of the above. Every day is a struggle to make it to 4:10PM so I can get the hell out of there and go home. Ugh. Hopefully it’ll improve, but… I doubt it. Whatever; my work is what I do to make a paycheck, not find pure chewing satisfaction. For that I have my writing.
And UE08 is quite on track for a weekend finish. Hell, I MIGHT get it done tonight; I think it’ll just take one last night’s push to finish it off. I’m still pondering the ending, though, since I need to make it jive with how I’ve set up Kisei. I’d hate to take a chapter that’s had such positive reviews and cap it off with a flimsy ending. (panicpanic)
I forget if I’ve mentioned this or not, but once I finish the MAME cabinet, I’ve decided to go through with building the Dreamcast cabinet after all. I already have all the parts needed (DC, games, arcade DC stick, small television) and Jenny’s agreed to build the puppy out of a hard foam derivative. The reason? There isn’t a dreamcast emulator out there worth its salt, and I refuse to give up my Power Stone fixation.
Power Stone… is just that damn good. I prefer the first game (more furniture to knock around and more crazed wire-fu fun), but the second’s cool too. Why don’t they make more games like this? Why, god, why?! It’s so much FUN! It’s just your basic wild chair swinging body slamming table kicking vase throwing pillar smashing gem collecting intensely over the top arcade free for all beat ’em up game. Who can’t like that?
But NOOO, we need 2957 King of Street Fighters clones that have complicated special moves and memorized combo patterns that only a master player can really enjoy. (grumble) Give me a wooden chair to bash over someone’s head before collecting the third gem and going Super Saiyajin any day… and once the DC cab’s done, I’ll be able to do that any day. I’m hoping to make my own Power Stone themed marquee and sideart, which will be fun given I have no high quality scans of the logo or any artwork.
Finally, I had to switch Usenet providers recently. Ugh. Comcast’s free Giganews Usenet service stinks. All I did was download some manga and a copy of KOF2k1 and I’ve managed to use up 10% of my monthly 1 gig allocation! Whasupwitdat? I’m thinking, though, that I’ll just pay the 10 a month to Giganews so I can get a monthly 6 Gig + Free Headers. I really don’t forsee myself downloading more than six gigs of data, but definitely will be passing one gig in short time. I get nice bandwidth to them (50k/sec) since they’re based out of Maryland, so I’d prefer to stick with them than go with Easynews or similars.
And… that’s it. Back to work for me. Bleeh.
