The cable company PPV system was completely fubared last night. After being strung along for 45 minutes with phone calls that didn’t always go through and promises of a show that would never arrive… I didn’t get to see the ONE PPV I had been actually looking forward to for a change. WWE usually is like “Eh, I guess I’ll order it” but this one looked SWEET on paper. And naturally, I didn’t get to see it.
I will take out my frustration on the innocent and the holy.
But enough about that.
My friends stuck around and we watched four episodes of Ranma 1/2; some good nostalgia there, and Andrew hadn’t seen the series yet, so it was fun to expose him to it (so to speak). Josh is a Kunou mark, so it was quite a crowd participation event — it’s funny, but Dub Kunou is much funnier than Sub Kunou. Maybe it was mistranslation or deliberate mistranslation, but we had the subs and the dub running simultaneously and the differences made for a more enjoyable anime to the ears rather than the eyes. Odd.
I’m doing a LOT of custom content for Penultima ReRolled, and I’m starting to hit a groove here… afternoons I work on Penultima, nighttime I work on UE. I can only write at night for some weird psychological reason, but NWN? I can hack NWN anytime of the day. So I think I may actually be able to work on these simultaneously. Go figure. …I’m getting off track. Custom content.
Not only will we have customized plot items with their own bitmaps (your spiffy Golden Anvil you buy for 500 gold will actually look like an anvil in your inventory! And weigh a mere 100 lbs!) but I’m also going to have custom NPC portraits with a nice compression trick to keep the size down, and — tada! — custom music. …I forget if I mentioned this in my last LJ update. But anyway, everything comes nicely bundled in ZIPfile #1 of the campaign, other than the music, which is an optional download. Neither should tax you unless you have a 56k modem and zero patience.
Scope the Penultima gallery (again). Added an evil bishounen elf! Whee!
…oh god, work tomorrow. Not looking forward to it.
