I spent some of this weekend tweaking and tuning the monsters for ReRolled 2. A fine balance had been struck after hours of work — they had just enough challenge to hurt you, but not enough to be unfairly overwhelming. Perfect.
Then I tried them in combat conditions (ie, in the module itself)… with cute l’il Sally Malevolent, 12 year old formerly evil wizard terror as my henchman.
I run towards the spiders with my trusty sword. She summons an undead Skeletal Chieftan, busts out the CloudKill, launches Evard’s Black Tentacles, and the spiders are wiped out in a matter of moments. I won’t even relate what happened when I had an adventuring troupe consisting of skeleton, Sally, and a Spin-o-taur with me… except to say that it was… gooey.
Methinks I need to make the monsters tougher again.
I got some good PR2 development time AND some good roleplaying time in last night. I’m still a little iffy on the RP, since it takes up so much time, and people expect / want you to be around a lot when really I’d like it to just be one of my many hobbies, not dominating my interests. The person I was playing with was disappointed when I said I had to go around 10pm to work on some projects. But I have to learn to Just Say No, dammit. I’ve got too many things I LIKE to do to focus on any one.
…which is why I wish I could sit down and do some UE, but the mood hasn’t hit me yet. But as a treat to y’all, I’ll be posting the final editions of all those beta episodes today. The only changes are spelling fixes, which a reader was INFINITELY KIND ENOUGH to do for me without me even asking! Hey, it saves time; spellchecking HTML can be a pain in the ass. I’ll post again when they’re up. .
Been a couple of good days recently, even at work. Maybe last week’s slump is done with. Although I have a nasty looking Learning Tree course next week..
