The above quote taken from a severe heckling of “Event Horizon” by my buds and I.
Progress progresses on Elegia Eternum! I’ve cracked the writer’s block — there were elements of the story that just weren’t clicking, weren’t providing a good GAME or even a good working plot. I’ve tweaked and readjusted things and now I have a nice, balanced quest that ties neatly into the psychological framework. Most excellent. I haven’t decided on what levels the player will have to be in order to play, though… I hate to have them be too high, but frankly you can’t do any INTERESTING monsters until at least level five or six. Bleah.
In nastier news, I cancelled my scheduled CyberCon game. I didn’t mention this before, but I agreed to participate in some odd ‘online roleplaying game convention’ that was being run through a website. Of course, for the first few days my game was listed as a M:tG game, then it wasn’t available for registration, then I only got 2 out of 5 slots filled, THEN I find out it’s central timezone and not eastern and I’d be up to 2am if I was gonna do this and I said “Screw it” and cancelled. My companions at NWC who also got sucked into this are likewise upset at the lack of organization and attitude the Cybercon folks were coppin’. Just goes to show… NWC is da bomb for online NWN gaming. Nothing else will cut the mustard.
Tomorrow is HORROR MOVIE FEST at Josh’s place — I went and rented Thirteen Ghosts. Fun! I love the Dark Castle remakes, they’re effects loaded, have characters who are JUST interesting enough to suffice, have the obligatory Neat Unexpected Story Twists that keep them from being totally generic, and there’s blood! SO! MUCH! BLOOD! We’ll be watching House on Haunted Hill, too. Wai! Ghosts!
Man, if only I could get Elegia Eternum done in time for Halloween. That would 0WNZ3R1Z3. I don’t think I can, though, it’s gonna be a 1-3 hour quest with lots of surreal landscapes, and tweaking/tuning those takes forever.
More to come.
