After hours of tweaking and fiddling with the nitty gritty of the software side, Josh figured out what was wrong with the DVD-ROM.
Intel, being the geniuses they are, had mounted the DVD-ROM with… one screw. That’s it. The mounting rails? They were there, but fell off the minute we pulled out the drive — they weren’t even attached, they were just wedged in there with the drive. Odds are, the drive was wobbling and rattling around inside the case during the entire shipping process and got damaged. To make sure… we popped the DVD-ROM from my current computer in. And it worked perfectly. So, I buy a new DVD-ROM tonight, and the blackhearted dogs who stained my existence with their inferior workmanship will be thricefold cursed with blood and pain for all eternity.
I got nothing else done yesterday, what with this and Raw. At least Raw was mediocre instead of stupid and lame; nowhere to go but up, and it DID have a few memorable moments (Golddust, Hurricane, the Tough Enough angle we’ve been waiting a year and a half for, poor Justin Credible being squashed by a steroid monster, etc)
Tonight I vote, shower, tinker, and HOPEFULLY find time to work on EE. I gotta get the last batches of lines out to my actors as soon as I can, and these delays ain’t helping.
