I’ve accidentally found an excellent formula for a Smackdown character.
Wait until they make a mistake (see also: first thing they do) and get ’em on the mat. Anklelock. Anklelock. Anklelock. Repeat. The lag time between the end of the animation and your ability to do another move is tiny, so you can reapply it over and over without much hassle. They counter it 25% of the time — but so what? I use a special enzugiri type kick (which technically ‘grapples’, ie, if the kick lands it goes into a canned animation) which drops ’em… and positions me RIGHT BACK at the ankle. Lock, lock, lock.
When I get a super charged, pick them up, tap X for a toe kick, Ken Shamrock’s special anklelock finisher and they usually tap like a little bitch. If needed. I’ve annihilated other characters before even getting to the finisher… say, Steve Austin?
Excellent. I plan to clear quite a few PPVs with this baby. Useful in handicap and tag matches — in tags, my enemy never GETS to tag. They’re tapping out 45 seconds into the match. Muwaahahaa.
But enough about that.
Josh was over tonight (along with Andrew and Jen) to record lines for EE. I hadn’t realized how funny Zatana’s lines are until they’re spoken aloud in a sort of hybrid bandit king / Ren Hoek / Brak’s Dad voice. Yikes. We had to re-record a few because everybody in the room busted out laughing randomly. My only concern is that the Penultima level comedy here is going to detract from the “Big Revelation” Zatana dumps on the player, but… maybe that weird contrast will be awkward enough to make it work even better?
I’m still missing Lauren’s lines. That’s it — all the other lines are recorded for EE. Once I get hers and do an initial test with the voices, I’ll be uploading it, but… gotta wait. *sigh*
