And some good.
Last night I finally got the hard drive issue squared away (mostly). Put it into the new computer, had Josh over to help with the partitioning and formatting… good thing, too, because the boot disk for Maxtor’s installer was bad AND the boot disk we got off Maxtor’s website didn’t work. But the boot disk we made from the CD it came with, that worked, and bammo I have 117 gigs of space. Copied over all my media files, and tonight I’ll be taking out the old, now empty 40 gigger.
Then we sat down and watched Queen of the Damned, since my Tivo had collected it for me. Oh god. Oh, god. Bad. Very bad. A completely un-subtle vampire movie full of pasty-faced writhing people and cliched dialogue. We tore it to pieces, naturally, and had a fun time doing it — 1h45m of MSTing that piece of nastiness.
After that it was highlights of Raw, as I judiciously used the fast forward button (since it had buffered quite a bit during QotD). We managed to catch up to real-time by the end of the show, and that’s only because for some reason I chose not to skip Booker and Flair’s meaningless promos. Wow, Raw was not very good tonight… matches were nothing special, story was all over the map.
But the worst thing? We had point and counterpoint on “How a main eventer can give a lesser star the rub without destroying his credibility.” In the good corner we have Rock vs. Hurricane, which was built up to for weeks with amazingly fun sketches, and ended up being one hell of a match with a lot of back and forth and a fluke pin post distraction for Hurricane which makes neither of them look bad. Hooray!
Then in the bad corner we have Triple H deciding to destroy Maven just because he’s in a bad mood, with Maven getting in little to no offense and getting pinned clean with a finisher, further proving that “the kid can’t hack it”. Bad, bad, bad. What’s with H’s ego that he has to be king of the mountain? And even if he didn’t book that piece of tripe didn’t the writers realize this did nothing for either of them? HHH doesn’t look any more evil since he was ALWAYS a bully, and Maven looks like a wimp. Yay.
A decided step DOWN from last week’s decent Raw. I’m so glad I’ve got the tivo, I couldn’t stomach what the WWE are doing lately without it. (GGW wet t-shirt competitions? Am I the only hetero male who doesn’t find skanky softcore pornography exciting, but actually offensive and boring? bleah.)
Well, DESPITE the massive suckage (or perhaps because of it?) Josh, Andy, Jen and I had a lot of fun heckling and hanging out for longer than usual. Movie party this weekend, and I can’t wait. Until then I’m gonna kick back, work on PR5, and relax.
