I’m working on the music for FoD. I can’t say it’s going to be particularly impressive; asian instruments seem to operate under different laws of physics than any other instrument on the planet, and don’t like to cooperate with western style rythms and beats. The asian loop library I got only had instruments, no percussion, so I’m trying to mix in things like rock and techno and ambient weirdness… it’s not as smooth as Elegia Eternum but I guess it’ll do as a background song in a fighting game. I played a lot of Final Fight and Streets of Rage to research how they do music and it’s basically a minute and a half of continuous drumline and simple melodies, so that works.
I’m a bit concerned about the casting call. Flava seems to have dried up quite a bit compared to how it looked during EE, so hopefully the postings I made to the NWN forums will compensate. I have a lot of male auditions (not many ringers yet though, so keep ’em coming!) but only one female audition. Hopefully auddies will pick up in general starting into next week. I’m probably worrying for no reason. Probably. Remember, the casting call is here.
Also in the ‘Uhoh’ department, the size of this game is looking to be about 30 megs. I know EE was only 20 and I really wanted to shoot for that, but the amount of dialogue, plus in-battle voice sets, plus music, plus graphical custom content == a lot of stuff. I’ve decided I’ll do the Lite/Full thing I did with Elegia, even if the Lite (3-5 megs) ends up being unpopular so at least the option will be there. Should make it easier to do playtesting updates too, so folks don’t have to download 30 megs of stuff.
I hope I haven’t bitten off more than I can chew. Oh yeah, and there’s that PR5 thing I gotta do… oi, oi… @_@; .
