Not much to report, that’s why. I’ve been sick. It’s one of those annoying colds which smacks you with a two of four non-critical symptoms each day randomly — stuffy nose, headache, coughing, aching muscles. Not enough to take you out of the ballgame and mandate rest, but too much to maintain 100% productivity in your daily life. Bleck.
I’m currently trying to wrap my head around excrucio eternum. It’s a wholly alien type of mod for me — after you wake up you’re pretty much free to move about the entire module, but you start out with no idea what to do. Sort of like Myst. I don’t want the players to get lost, but if I drop a big “Okay, you need to go do this” hint it’d be lame. And at the same time I have to craft up NPCs so they have dialogue that makes sense during any phase of the ‘plot’, since you can talk to them when you’re just starting out or when you’re almost done your job. Oooah. Wild.
And I actually PLAYED some NWN last night! Good god, I actually got to play instead of build or DM! Props to Sweeney for arranging things. I was a Chaotic Evil rogue/assassin girl who was doing a whole ‘innocently childlike yet twisted and spooky’ thing. It probably ended up more Chaotic Neutral since I wanted to get along with my teammates rather than carve interesting designs in their flesh, and I felt the impulse to lead the group (“We should go this way, I hear voices!”) but hey, it was a fun change of pace. I’ll have to play her more often.
I’m also prepping for the big gaming day on the 5th. MAME cab, PS2, X-Box, PC running GTA:VC, pool table, skeeball machine. I hope it’s enough to keep the folks entertained, I really have no structured activity in mind beyond booting up all the machines and saying “Okay, knock yourself out”. Maybe I could hold a puzzle fighter tournament or something impromptu like that… any suggestions, given the hardware available?
