One full ‘mini-story’ arc, where we finally see Astro Gal in action. I put a lot of thought into it, trying to figure out the most realistic take I could on this. That’s something that shows like Heroes never even attempted; it just showed superpowers, not superHEROES. How would a genuine costumed crimefighter work? Let’s find out.
Personal bloggy note: Man, the Internet is soaked in Haterade this week. If you’ve followed my Twitter, you’ll note that I’ve been seeing nothing but spite and complaint and argument on all the various forums I read. Generally it always takes the shape of “$THING sucks, and $THINGCREATOR sucks, and it’s ruined because of $ASPECTINCONTENTION, and I can’t believe all you $THINGCREATOR fanboy defenders are so stupid not to see that.”
Ahh, the age old siren song of the internet forum. I guess it’s par for course, and normally I shrug it off, but… I saw a LOT of it this week. Example: Team Fortress 2 gets hated on for its optional microtransaction store. Today, they released wearable hats that, when purchased, donate 100% of the purchase price to the Red Cross’s Japan Disaster Relief Fund. So, I bought the most expensive hat, and put it on, and went off to shoot people. Immediately I got people yelling at me in voice chat, calling me an idiot, and elitist, threatening to ban me from the servers, etc.
The old saying goes “A person is okay. PEOPLE are asshats.” (Well, not EXACTLY like that, but.) It’s a sour thing to put faith in. I really want to be more like Una… believing that people essentially want to be decent, and it’s their fears that make them do otherwise. Some days, that’s hard to believe.
Okay. Rant over. Story time. Let me know what you think.
