And we finally learn why everybody thinks this route is a surreal joke.
Last two weeks of //004, here. This is the setup — next week is the finale. It’s the longest CoA story yet but honestly, I didn’t plan for that; it took a long time to get to the point where things come to a head, and the head they came to has changed more than once. In the end I’m thinking it’ll all hang together despite the entire premise shifting multiple times.
After that I MAY need a delay before I start //005, owing to having nothing on paper yet other than “repeating supermarket of the damned.” Well. I mean, I have MORE than that, but the rest is spoilery. …actually that quip is spoilery. Maybe you should just pretend you didn’t read that.
My life is a little gonzo lately, with security fixes to make in Second Life (which as always is a haven of cheats and frauds) and THREE RPGs on my plate, all with the number two after their names. Enjoying three ridiculously long and in-depth games at once is not something I recommend for the sane.
So, enjoy Cass’s antics, and let me know what you think.
Ciara says
Okay, so! While this may be kind of obvious, I figured I’d ask.
Is Cass, in fact, short for “Cassandra?” (And thus with all the implications of said name.)
Stefan "Twoflower" Gagne says
Originally, yes! As the story progressed it became less important (she isn’t going to be ignored) so I never namedropped the rest of her name.
Jeremy Jinkerson says
What’s the status on the Kickstarter? I’d love to see it up soon so I can add it to my Christmas list.
Stefan "Twoflower" Gagne says
Definitely not before Christmas. The idea is to bind together all the stories from ‘volume one’ of City of Angles, and we’re only halfway through volume one.
I’ll PROBABLY launch it when we reach //007 or //008. Enough lead-in time to finish the series while the kickstarter completes.
Lirazel says
Oh man! Oh man, oh man, oh man…
I liked the earlier stories, but I am LOVING this. The Beat poets would be more vague, of course, but then they rarely told complete stories.
Stefan "Twoflower" Gagne says
I considered being more vague, but I don’t think it’d serve the story — I’ve been very vague so far about what’s going on between Lucid, Bedlam, and Echo. Figured it was high time I delivered some concrete details, and more are coming in the finale.
Lirazel says
Well, yes, particularly since it’s Lucid being… um… lucid.
I find myself strongly reminded of Delirium in the Sandman, who, as you may recall, had to become reality-based at one point.
Stefan "Twoflower" Gagne says
You may be on to something there. Just sayin’.
Mike says
Great buildup, can’t wait to find out what is behind the bears, and maybe the words too.
Stefan "Twoflower" Gagne says
Hi! Thanks for commenting. :D There’ll be more about the bears and the words in the next update. The meaning is in there but it’s a bit buried at the moment, you’d have to correlate it to arc words and colors I’ve dropped through the series.
…come to think of it, I bungled and made the pick-up truck outside the house brown instead of green. It’s actually important! I’ll fix that for next week’s update.
