New readers — welcome! This blog is where I set up feedback threads for the latest draft story in progress. Right now I’m up to story #8. You should probably start at story #1, though.
Current readers — Okay, this week is kind of a doozy. I’ve added a framing device to the story. That means a bunch of additional scenes mixed in with scenes you’ve already read, putting them in an entirely different context. On top of all that I’ve got random scene edits to address issues raised in the blog (thanks!).
Normally I don’t do this extensive a set of changes to already-written material, and it’s going to be difficult for prereaders who already read the last version to sort out in their heads what happens and when. But I felt the story needed it… this way I have less exposition by characters who really should not be able to make the logic jumps they make, and I can tie it back into something that happens later in the chapter. For someone reading the finalized 008 fresh they’ll get the best experience. For folks reading as I go… nooot as great, but ultimately needed.
I’m aiming to have this done right in time for the Kickstarter in March, so I can focus on that. Wish me luck. And let me know what you think about this latest swath of changes.

Really like it. It gels. I like how the climax is rather hidden and assumed underneath what I really care more about, which is who Penelope is.

The big finale comes up tomorrow, including Penelope’s seecret. Enjoy. :D

I like the new framing device! Adds an element of ominousness as Penny starts to realize exactly where she is and what’s going on.

A comment! *tears of joy*
Yeah, it’s a slow build towards realization that she may be going mad — and one which will pay off when we “catch up” to the present. Without it, the moment in question feels WAAAY too sudden.
I’m iffy on where I stopped (it’s supposed to link in seamlessly with the next scene) but I was pooped and couldn’t write moar. Next week we’ll see what Scarlett meant. And bonus points if you can guess it.
