Got some big announcements for you today!
I’ll get the slightly boring one out of the way first; both City of Angles and Floating Point are now far more mobile friendly. I’ve tested story pages for both on my iPhone and they read a LOT better now. A full third of my readers are coming to my sites on mobile devices and I want your reading experience to be ideal. Particularly the reading experience you’re about to have tonight…
I’ve posted a special two-scene sneak preview of Floating Point! Learn a bit more about this virtual world, how the mechanics of it all work, what struggles the people living there face. It’s brief, but should be enough to whet your appetite for the big launch.
Floating Point officially launches on November 21st! Story content will start going live on Fridays, week by week. As always, drafts will be posted a few scenes at a time, and your feedback is welcome! The familiar writing process you enjoyed for anachronauts and City of Angles will continue here.
Last but not least, you can now support me on Patreon if you choose to. Patreon is a cool way to keep content creators such as myself going, funding the costs of their work and keeping food on the table. You chip in a minimum of $1 (or more!) per weekly update, with a monthly limit you choose, to avoid me writing eleven thousand books and draining your bank account. Patrons will gain early access to draft updates (when possible!) and patrons backing over the minimal level will get bonus chapter content. I’m planning to release parts of FP:01 ahead of the launch date to Patreon backers!
I’d like to note that even though I’m releasing early content on Patreon, that content will also continue to be posted for free to the site. If you can’t afford to back me or simply prefer to buy finished books, that’s totally okay. This is entirely optional, sort of a “tip jar” to help fund the overall project ahead of the inevitable book launch. There are no second-class citizens in the Fiction Factory… I’m happy to have any and all readers regardless of how they choose to participate.
We’re coming up on the big launch and I’ll be tweeting and posting and stuff to keep the hype machine going. Anything you can do to spread the word of Floating Point is welcome; talk it up to friends, post on Reddit, whatever you like. Thank you so much for your support!
