Been some time since I did a proper blog update. Let’s chat.
Floating Point is coming along well. I’m in the middle of writing chapter 1.6, the last chapter of the book (outside of the 1.7b bonus chapter for the retail version). I started writing in early November, and now it’s late February… that’s a heck of a short time for a heck of a long book, one that’ll be on par with a City of Angles book for size. Whoa.
I couldn’t have done this without your support — notably support from my Patreon, which has already made this book the most profitable one I’ve ever done and has paid for all relevant art and publishing expenses. In thanks, all $2+ Patreon backers will get a free copy of the bonus chapter, once it’s ready. Yay! (EDIT: I’ll be making the check for backers at the time the bonus chapter’s released, in mid April. If you pledge now but then withdraw your pledge before then, you won’t get it.)
Here’s what the schedule’s looking like through to the end of the book.
- February 27: Chapter 1.5 Part 1
- March 5: Chapter 1.5 Part 2 (early due to PAX)
- March 13: Chapter 1.5 Part 3
- March 27: Chapter 1.6 Part 1
- April 3: Chapter 1.6 Part 2
- April 10: Chapter 1.6 Part 3 (finale!)
Not sure when the second book, “Revelation of Floating Point,” will start; it’s still waaaay too early to tell. There will likely be a break between the first two books while I finalize chapters and get them sent out for proofreading and publication.
Lastly, I’m headed out to PAX East the weekend of March 6-9. If you’re going too, it’d be a great opportunity for me to sign your books, say hello, answer any questions, yadda yadda. For instance, I’ll be at Friday’s Writer’s Workshop Panel hosted by Tonic Industries, Firehose Games, and Bioware. Hope to see you there!
So, got any questions? Any feedback about Floating Point so far? Just wanna say hello? Post in the comments below. Thanks so much!

Anything you know you’ll be at a bit later? I go with my nephew and a friend who’s a local and neither of them comprehend the concept of “AM”, so they make after that panel prohibitively early for my yearly “corner Stefan Gagne and have him sign my books while trying not to appear too utterly creepy” ritual.

I’m also planning to go to the Paxamania panel and Acquisitions Incorporated. Most of the other time I’ll be floating around.
