Witches

Simply put, a human who knows how to cast spells. (Go read that page of this website if you haven't already, then come back. I think you come back by clicking the little left facing arrow. I wouldn't know, I don't use the internet.)

There's nothing more to it than that, but this site isn't called Witchipedia for nothing. It's my statement about what a witch should be, not what a witch is. So let me give you my viewpoint.

A witch should be the bridge between the Faerie Court and the human world. A witch stands with one foot in each camp. Witches study magic not because they seek power, but because they seek knowledge... lore of a culture, mastery of the many aspects of magic, a versatility that ensures they have a solution for every problem. A witch ought to be the best of both worlds.

The unfortunate truth is that while plenty of humans call themselves witches, they're little more than puppets of the courts, set up with self-destructive spells and turned loose like attack dogs. I'm the only practicing witch that follows my principles. I'd like to see more... maybe set up a school of my own, show the world how it's supposed to be done. But I'm just one person, the world's not ready yet, and I can't change the world. Hopefully sometime in the future that'll be different.

EDITOR'S NOTE: All the witches I know (other than Emily) are psycho hose beasts. I'm all for a new generation of witches that aren't crazy and dangerous and likely to kill you as look at you. I've tried to learn some magic so I could be a witch, but I just can't get the Way down... it's too much to keep track of, too much to know. Hopefully someone smarter than me can pick up the torch. I'm trying to encourage Emily to write a proper FAQ for would be spellcasters but that's dangerous info to be putting on the web, and she's a busy girl, anyway. Maybe later...
