Love & Hate

Quite possibly the longest running program on the Video Network, Love & Hate has faded in and out of popularity over the course of its run. Because it's cheap to produce, it has kept going with or without the ratings. Currently it's the most popular show on the Network and has a large number of subscribers and fan-nodes.

Put simply, Love & Hate is a soap opera. It follows the old-money clan of the Reginas, who live in a fictional reality and get involved in plenty of weddings, funerals, kidnappings, wars, evil twins, ransom demands, communication breakdowns and all the other good elements that make up a soap. Over the entire run of the show, about three hundred characters have come and gone, with multiple generations of the Regina family showcased.

None of the exist. Not in the 'oh, it's a fictional series' sense. Love & Hate keeps the overhead down by employing virtual actors on virtual sets saying lines written by virtual writers. The entire show is scripted and directed by a powerful but very special purpose artificial intelligence codenamed LHART. The audience is aware of this fact, but since LHART has been designed to deliver the goods for soap fans and has consistently delivered for years, it doesn't matter.

LHART is owned and operated by -- surprise! -- RealWare. A special division of programmers and writers handles regular upgrades and tweaks to LHART's database to keep his pool of raw creative material up to date.

The original coder for LHART, Art Pasadina, died awhile back in a reality accident, but his daughter Belle has taken up the task of division chief executive. Thanks to several creative innovations introduced by her, the show has had a recent surge in popularity due to the introduction of a new anti-hero character, Alex Gunthar.
