Nippon

Along with Reality Prime and Urbana, Nippon is one of the oldest and most respected realities around.

Nippon is a fully functional world onto itself. There are vast neon-lit cityscapes that twinkle in the moonlight. There are farms and acres of mountainous countrysides, where rice is planted and rural villages reside. Fishermen cruise the seas around the island chain for fish, whales, dolphins, octopi and other delicacies. Nippon has a fully working ecosystem, rather than the fractured and convenient ones of other realities. Its own internal economy operates off 'En', which can be exchanged for points in order to deal with other realities.

In fact, much of Nippon is inclusive to itself. Nippon holds its own economy, its own language (Nihongo) and a culture of its own. This culture is quite popular in other realities, but make no mistake, this is the primary market for it. Nippon supports itself first, and does not like to be seen as dependent on any other realities, unlike the parasitic hanger-on realities that are missing key infrastructure.

Traditions run deep in Nippon, with customs that may confuse outsiders. Shoes are removed while inside homes. Spirits of the ancestors are held in great esteem. Politeness is taken to an extreme degree, as is loyalty and perseverance. Outsiders are likely to stumble through these customs upon their first visit. And their second. And their third.

Nippon has close ties to Reality Prime, being one of the largest customers of RealWare products, but they tend to produce more RealNet content than they consume. The affairs of other realities typically matter not to Nippon, unless money is concerned. Their money.

The capital city of Edo is home to Edo Tower (which sports a nice observation deck / aquarium), the headquarters of Noyori Labs, and an unassuming little building known as the Seven Lucky Gods Street Orphanage.

You may not destroy Nippon, or change its alternative economic system or base language. As it's a fairly large island chain, other areas than Edo are open for definition.
