Reality Adepts

WARNING: THIS SECTION CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THE ORIGINAL UE SERIES.

Certain characters in the original UE series, due to a Reality Engine accident, were gifted with powers to control reality. This factor exists in UE:OH as well.

How the powers are granted always stems from sort of technological screwup... either an engine failure or something along those lines, accidentally transferring the harmonic properties of an engine to the victim. (It's not always a birthing accident.) Sometimes the victim never realizes those powers are inside, writing off strange bouts of good luck as coincidences. Sometimes they realize, and start trying to harness the power, to varying degrees of success...

Typical powers include alterations to the laws of physics, telekinesis, translocation, teleportation, creation of matter and objects, or environmental control. It does not allow one to read thoughts or shoot laser bolts from your eyes, it has to derive from manipulation of the world around you in some manner. These powers are NOT godlike -- most Reality Adepts have difficulty controlling their powers consciously, or there can be backfiring, such as a radical change accidentally resulting in that reality's Safe Mode activating. Multi-like levels of control and ability should not be a factor in your work, but M-like levels would be fine.

Reality Adepts should keep a low profile, because if RealWare DOES hear about your abilities, odds are they're going to want a talk with you. An extended talk. After you mysteriously vanish into the night and your friends and loved ones never hear from you again. This should be patently obvious to any adept, since monster movies still exist in this world... and what happens to the monster that goes on a rampage? Hint: BAD THINGS. There's a reason Professor Xavier calls his joint a School for Gifted Youngsters instead of a School for All-Powerful Mutant Gods...

Another good reason to keep a low profile are the Normalizers, aka the Society for Normal Reality. They know about the adepts. And they want them dead, in the name of normalizing reality before one of these crazy freaks does something terrible...

Use your head. If your character is causing enormous amounts of obvious changes to the world around them, someone's going to notice and it's going to start disrupting day to day living in the Multiverse. Be careful with this. M-like levels are acceptable, but Multi-like godheads are not.
