And here we have the big finale to coa//012.
Well, not a BIG finale, it’s actually a short update, but it does expose the origin of the entire series so that’s kind of a big deal.
Progress is going great on the book. It’s basically finished; I just need to finalize the backer credits, the Kindle version, and those surveys I sent out yesterday. I’m also figuring out how I want to proceed with vol//002 and vol//003, in terms of funding and release. Definitely gonna change some things. News to come on that.
Next week I might take a break, since coa//013 is barely outlined and I’ve got book stuph to work on. Meanwhile, enjoy this story update, and let me know what you think!
Lirazel says
OK, that made the hair on the back of my neck get all zingy. And you said “there wasn’t much to say” about Grandma Scarlett, way back when!
Stefan "Twoflower" Gagne says
Well, I’ll be honest and say I’m not sure what role she’ll serve from this point forward. I have a few things set about the future and a lot of things not set. At this point she’s a plot coupon, something I can cash in to make something work what wouldn’t otherwise work.
That said I think she’d a heck of a plot coupon — she could potentially serve as a critical balancing force between the warring perspectives of the dreamer. Even if Lucid and Bedlam have come to terms they’re hardly friendly, and that’s something Scarlett would want to work on, for instance.
Jen says
Eh, you tend to make good use of your plot coupons. :D Besides, her last line is a good lead-in for the three “girls” to have their character arcs go further. (This starting with their origin, passing through Lucid’s decision regarding Penny, and then to the as-yet-unknown future.) Not that that has to even be onscreen, but just the possibility seeing more plausible is good.
Also, I totally cried TWICE in this chapter. Once about Scarlett’s bear (knowing what would happen later) and then at the end here. :)
