Now that //013 is out of the way, with its psyche-crushing adult drama, let’s shift a few gears into psyche-crushing teenage drama of //014. Milly Frisk is back and this time she’s in the limelight of her own story.
My school experience wasn’t terrible. At worst, I was bored. Despite being physically handicapped and a geek and any number of other easy angles for bullies to dig on, nobody ever did. I was somehow off limits and I never quite grasped why. But I’d heard plenty of stories of those who were tormented, enough to know that “people are jerks” is a pattern learned from a young age which follows into adulthood and leads to darker and more unpleasant bullying, such as running for congress.
Now, ultimately this is a small part of //014, as something much more critical pops up at the end of this particular bit of story. But it’s worth looking at for a bit, all the same.
This story is also the result of the readership poll I ran a few months ago. Many of you said you wanted to see more of Milly Frisk and Lucas Flynn, and your wish is (usually) my command. Let me know what you think.
