Lots of things going on behind the scenes. And in front of the scenes. And generally around the scenes. Allow me to explain.
Floating Point 3.3 is finalized, taking your feedback and fixes into consideration. One notable new addition: a brief explanation of Twist and how it operates. I’ve decided it’s spread through physical contact, so I’ve edited any instance of Spark touching people to work around that.
I’m outlining Floating Point 3.4 now. You may have seen me writing some of it over on my Twitch.TV livestream channel. There’s not quite enough yet for me to start posting it, and I’m still making tunes and tweaks, but it’s coming along. Once I have the outline for Act II of the chapter in better shape we can get going on it. Your patience is appreciated.
In other hobby news, I’ve started streaming retro arcade and console games on that Twitch channel I just mentioned. I’m streaming every Monday and Wednesday night at 9pm Eastern, and I’d love for folks to tune in and enjoy. It’s sort of a retrogame variety show, where I mix up classics and play random games, while providing pithy commentary. I’m also continuing to update my YouTube channel with some seriously deep geek arcade tech how-tos, with open source code for all the tools I’m developing.
Also, I’m doing some research into Visual Novels as a possible future project, after Floating Point. So far I’ve got some stellar ideas for what I’d want to do with the medium. I also have some unfortunate examples of what I absolutely do NOT want to do with the medium. I’m a picky bastard and I’ll only go into this new idea if I can make something that feels like my own ideals. …although having no art or music resources is kind of a major problem and may torpedo it. Yeah, I could use Twine, but I kinda want to mix media. You know me; I’m all about mixing media. I mix all the onesdamned media, when I can.
But, that’s for the Distant Future Year 20xx. For now, there is Floating Point, and video games. I welcome you to share them both with me.
