(Note: These developer blog posts are on a one week delay, with Patreon backers getting them day-and-date. Which means a lot of my worries here are smashed rather nicely in today’s paid update. Want in? Join the Patreon!)
This week, I’ve been playing a lot of No Man’s Sky.
That’s not exactly how I want to start a dev blog post, but hey, it’s honest. Right now, as detailed in earlier updates, we’ll miss miss our scheduled September demo update because we’re a wee bit bottlenecked. Artists and writers are busy with conventions, family stuff, and more. We’re looking at a very productive September, but August was just too jammed up for everyone involved.
Except me. Hence, the fidgeting, and the spinning.
Honestly the game’s in good shape and has a bright future; we’ve got art coming in, the story’s shaping up and the final arc is being planned, and things are going great. But I, personally, have de nada going on this week for it and that feels weeeeeeeird. I’m so used to solo projects where any downtime is due to writer’s block, not due to waiting on others. But group projects are reality unless you’re some insanely overtalented artist / writer / coder / musician, so this is a more realistic problem to face.
One thing that’d help fill the void would be feedback. You’ve got two and a half episodes in your hands right now, and the non-$5’ers have plenty of background info, so let’s hear it. What do you think so far of the game, for folks with demo builds? What do you want more information on, what topics should I cover in the blog? I’m all ears.
