FP 2.3 :: Trio
Draft Complete
Getting burned gives you opportunity to rise from your own ashes.
We’ll be on hiatus until the 18th or 25th while I plan the next chapter. Apologies! Life’s been crazy lately.

In high school, I made a simple puzzle-platformer-action game called “Inertia” about a little car with jump jets installed in it which acted as a perpetual motion machine. You couldn’t slow down, speed up, or stop… only change directions and soar skyward. It kept moving, and it was up to you to keep up with that movement. In hindsight I think I saw it as an ideal. Ceaseless and predictable, unstoppable but not chaotic. A thrill ride under your control.
But life is rarely under our control, and as thrill rides go, it tends to have doldrum downs and insane ups. Recently life’s thrown a lot of all of that and more at me.
My father’s passed on, and so it goes. My life continues. And it’s time to take my writing off pause and give it some inertia… even if I know I can’t meet the ideal of ceaseless movement.
Floating Point 2.3 launches today. I have less of a “writing buffer” than I had before, only 1.5 weeks of content ready in advance, so I can’t promise I’ll be able to stick to one-a-week forever and ever. But at this point, some is better than none, and moving slowly is better than standing still.
Your support means a lot to me. Thank you. Looking forward to finishing this trilogy, as much as you’re hopefully looking forward to reading it.
Floating Point 2.3 launches on August 21st. Patreon backers already have a peek, of course.
I can’t promise a week to week regular schedule, life is still very crazy, but I think I have enough material now to get this chapter going. See you in a week!
Hi there. It’s kinda been some time, hasn’t it.
I’m trying to make an effort to get my life situation back on track. My father’s still dying (no nicer way to put it) but because the universe apparently doesn’t believe in punctuality, putting life on hold to wait for it isn’t proving a fruitful endeavor. That means restarting various things I’d put on hiatus. Including Floating Point.
Here’s what’s coming up:
Welcome to Floating Point, the print novel and eBook with a bonus prequel chapter and extensive author’s notes, will be releasing at the end of the month / start of September. This has been delayed quite a bit by aforementioned life screwiness and the extensively crazy formatting the book needs compared to, say, anachronauts. So, be on the lookout for that. In the meantime, why not check out some of my other books?
Floating Point 2.3 will be launching soon; I have about a week and a half of material for it, and once I feel I have a comfortable buffer, I’ll get on it. Patreon backers will get early access, as always.
Thanks for your patience; if you’re reading these words it means you stuck it out through the dry spell, and for that accomplishment you deserve a pat on the back. Hold fast. We’ll be back soon.
FP 2.2 :: Meme
Draft Complete
Two sides played by the middle, as death smiles in kindness.
The story will be on hiatus for a few weeks, while I deal with personal life stuff. Thanks for your understanding and stay tuned to the blog for details about the upcoming three-part chapter, FP 2.3.
FP 2.2 :: Meme
Draft Continues
A meme is more than it seems, and there’s a phantom menace. Without pod racing.
Next week we’ll conclude 2.2, and then be going on a short hiatus while I prepare future chapters and deal with personal life stuff. Thanks for your understanding.
News update time! Largely similar to the previous news update, but that was a month ago, so I may as well keep us all on the same page.
There may be delays ahead. Either blank weeks between updates, or more than one week between chapters. Work, family troubles, other hobbies, wobbly moods, all sorts of messes. Since I’m not a full-time writer and writing itself is a creative activity that requires you to be in the proper mindset to avoid pooping all over the page, that slows down the work a bit. Your patience is appreciated… life is seldom kind to those who try to make plans, I’ve found.
Today we start 2.2::Meme, in which Nyx’s plans come to fruition and our protagonists face a threat that can’t be easily punched into oblivion. A threat which arguably isn’t a threat at all, if not for the dire implications. What’s going on? Who’s going on the things that are going on? Read, and find out for yourself.
Sneak peeks for Patreon backers are still a thing. Backers are the reason why Floating Point is the most successful writing project I’ve ever had, as in “it actually pays for itself.” That’s mighty nice and I’m incredibly appreciative. I’ll do my best to keep early content flowing for you guys.
The Welcome to Floating Point book is still on track for July. I’m assembling the print copy now, and the eBook is being formatted to be the best eBook it can eBe. I’ll have more to share with you soon, for those of you who want a copy of the complete FP experience to put on your shelf, digital or otherwise.
Thanks so much for your support. Thanks for your feedback. I’m looking forward to hearing what you think of 2.2::Meme. My writing improves each time someone speaks their mind, allowing me to refine and sharpen every word.

Three versus three, one by one, until none are left standing.
Floating Point 2.2 will begin on June 19th. I’m budgeting in an extra week so I can take care of the various life things we talked about before, and build up another good buffer.
