FP 2.1 :: Seek
Draft Continues
Memory is a matter of second-hand experience, and fashion is a passion.
Today we ring the soundless doom bell and call forth the fiction monks to pray for Revelation of Floating Point, the second book in the Floating Point series.
They’ve got a rough road ahead, because I’m facing down family trouble, health issues, overall stress, and writer’s block. Although I have all of 2.1 finished, I’m now stuck on 2.2, and if my “buffer” catches up to me there may be delays for both free-range readers and Patreon backers. Consider this your fair warning… life is surreal lately, and that may reflect on the work, as this book is considerably more complicated than the last.
But it’s not all doom and gloom. Today, 2.1 has begun, and it’s a doozy. We catch up to our protagonists, already in progress, and the various pitfalls they’ve walked into. Will they find happiness? Will they flame out and fade away? Will it get worse before it gets better?
Plus, I have word from my Glorious Editor that the book is on track. Welcome to Floating Point, including the previous Patreon-only 1.7b bonus chapter and extensive author’s notes exclusive to the book, will be out in June or July. If you’ve been enjoying the series so far and want to dig in as deep as you can go, you’ll want to get in on this. Details to come.
Thanks for backing me this far. Thanks for understanding about possible future delays. Thanks for your feedback and comments. Thanks for everything. The revelation is upon us… and may Humankind forgive its wayward children.
When life rains, it pours.
Folks who follow me on the various social medias are aware my father’s having serious health problems right now. Serious, as in “multiple hospitalizations, future unclear.” That alone has me rattled, but I’ve also had work stress and other various life stresses, and all of it is completely screwing with my writing mojo.
One thing not helping? FP 2.1, the first chapter, deals specifically with Beta’s mother. Who is dying.
It has to be written. This is the story, this is what it has to be, I just need to get through it. But it’s delaying the work quite a bit as I can’t find my footing. By this point, I think I’ve got a route through the plot which will aim true, but it’s still going to take time. More time than I expected it to take.
As always, Patreon backers will get early access, followed by the public readership a week later for free. In June/July the first FP book will be available, too, including that 1.7 bonus chapter.
Thanks for supporting me, and thanks for sticking around through the delays. I’ll be with you as soon as I can.
