Land of FaerieThe magical Land of Faerie. Home of the Fae, the home they were yanked away from during the Pandora Event that brought them into our world. To hear the Fae talk of it in wistful, nostalgic tones... well, speaking as an outsider, I think it's a truckload of crap. Sure, sure, it's an enchanted dreamscape that changes by thought and everything there is perfect, forever. Lost in time, torn away from them, etc. But let's consider what would've happened if HUMANS were pulled into the FAE world. Humans would be saying the same thing about Earth, about how great it was and how everything was wonderful there. In hindsight everything seems rosy. I bet life wasn't a paradise in the Land of Faerie, either. Anyway, only the eldest of the Fae have actual, first-hand knowledge of the Land of Faerie. The newer generations only know it from stories, and those stories are bound to get tangled and twisted over the years. I don't think we'll ever get an accurate accounting of the Fae homeworld. There have been magical attempts to reproduce the Pandora Event, or to open a portal back to the Land of Faerie. I doubt any of them have worked, or we'd know. Nobody understands what the Pandora Event was, it was over and done with so fast that there wasn't time to study it. I doubt there will ever be a mythical return to the Land of Faerie. The past should stay in the past. EDITOR'S NOTE: Every time the elders talk about the Land of Faerie, I have to try real hard not to roll my eyes. I was born in America. I'm a Fae-American, and damn proud of it. ...and hopefully, one of these days, I'll be able to freely travel from sea to shining sea the way an American should. My people need your legendary Emancipator, the Abraham of the Lincoln, to arise from his grave in Washington and kick butt, just like he did against Emperor Palpatine of Russia! |
