Nobody knows what's happened to Westusa.
There's a whole swath of the Faerie Court between Eastusa and Westusa, cutting off communication. The Internet linked the two sides of the country together for a short while after the Pandora Event, but the connections were lost soon after.
Attempts to get there by boat usually result in kraken encounters or worse. Flyover attempts may result in attack by Summer Court wyvern-riders. The Faerie Court has no interest in helping humans reach their brothers on the other side of our little world... and frankly, they don't seem to want to talk about what's going on over there even when you can find someone friendly to chat with. The fate of Unified Los Angeles, Seattle-Portland, Victoria, Anchorage and other ports of call isn't known.
There's plenty of theories, of course. Odds are they were eaten up by the Fae, and there is no more Westusa. Or maybe they've chosen to isolate themselves from the east, to have a go at it alone and without any contact with the outside world. Or maybe gibbering hellbeasts from another plane of existence have taken over. It's going to take someone made of sterner stuff than I to cross the entire country, deep into the heart of the Faerie Court, just to find out what happened.
EDITOR'S NOTE: I don't have any secret Faerie insider knowledge here. It's like the state of California and all its brothers are under a veil of... I won't say secrecy, it's more like nobody ever talks about them. They don't exist. Even the Winterfae, scary types that they are, speak in hushed tones of the west. Nothing's enforcing that silence beyond the weight of a history of not talking about them and a bit of general unease on the subject.
I have to admit that I'm curious. Maybe they're a strange mixed Fae/Human country, a place where people finally got it right? That's my dream, anyway.
